Free Ice Cream Trip?

So I had a bunch of new kids sign up for choir. Dread... more kids means more classroom management problems, or at least that's what I thought. Today was rehearsal #2 with my choir kids for the spring semester, and again I had angels. I'm not sure why. Could it be because the choir had a field trip to the Cold Stone Creamery before Christmas, and got free ice cream?

That's my guess. And we don't have another trip planned....

I know I should write something thought provoking and interesting, but I'm all out of words.

However I will not try to bore you with a minute by minute update of my life:
5:30-filed nails
5:32-painted thumb nail deep red
5:35-painted last pinky deep red
5:36-applied anti-smudge nailpolish topper
5:37-wondered why someone who plays guitar everyday thinks red nail polish (which chips) is a good idea

I talked hubby into taking down the christmas tree. I've decided putting up and taking down the tree is not fun. I do however have to go in there and provide moral support.

I'm reading "Somebody is going to die if Lilly Beth doesn't catch that Boquet; The Official Southern Ladies' Guide to Hosting the Perfect Wedding". Hilarious, even though I never plan on hosting a wedding. It's full of wonderful stories and yummy southern recipies.

number 29

So I pulled #29 out of thirty something. Whatever.... There were about 50 teachers who had to draw a number out of a bucket. Most were elem edu. I'm music, so maybe I have nothing to worry about, as far as being cut.

I think the numbers were speaking to me. I'm 29 years old right now. I'll be 30 next month, Feb 5th to be exact. I've spent this entire month, well since Christmas really, coming to terms with that. I've decided that I look and feel better now than a decade ago. I'm smart, funny, sexy (sometimes); I know what I'm about. Ten years ago, I was unsure of myself, had no idea who I was going to be, and suffering from a bad bleach job. (If there's one thing I'm vain about, it is my hair.)

I'm moving forward! (whether I want to or not, LOL!)

I'm full of snarkiness today. How about my school district (the good state of West Virginia, the freakin' backward state of freakin' West Virginia) is going to have me draw straws to determine my senority along with all of the other new teachers this year. It's a statute in the law for pete's sake. Working out of state looks more and more alluring.

I've decided to make a game out of my practice of avoiding my students (and their parents) at the local made-in-china Mart.
I get one point for every child I see that is not one of my students, therefore does not recognize me.
For every child that is one of my students, I get two points only IF they DO NOT SEE ME.
If they see me I lose two points.
If I have to run so they do not see me, and I make it out of the store in 5 minutes, bravo, 5 points!
If I have my own two kids and a loaded buggy and I make it out in 5 minutes without anymore sightings, outstanding! 10 points
Double if the husband is along.
If the student's parents see me, and stop me to complain about their child's grade, or the choice of music for the program, I've lost. May as well go home and open up that bottle of wine.

You make-a my day!

Thank you Sophanne, I am still smiling ear to ear, but I do have some sips of coffee in me now. I'm still tired so I apologize in advance for any stupid slap happy comments that I may make. like ,"auugh! where's my arrow?! I lost my arrow on the screen!" You know, dumb comments like that....

Instructions: "Give the award to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blogland. Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times."

I don't have 10 blogs but I do have my faves that brighten my day:

Okay, in no particular order:
Haley, knitting mom extradonaire
uberstrickenfrau- makes me laugh so hard I pee my pants
yarnhog, I live vicariously through your FO's
sarah, a burst of creativity
gina, my NY teaching friend
and Sophanne whose blog is like a well stocked spice cabinet. It has everything good in it.

Blogland is a REAL place. I believe! I believe!

Not much to say, and no way to say it creatively.

Hubby's watching "are you smarter than a fifth grader". I don't know of many 5th graders who are that smart, but I know a bunch who are rude. Perhaps they could make a show called, "are you ruder than a fifth grader?" And they could have armpit fart competitions, and paper throwing, and a contest to see who can make the biggest scene shopping with their parents in the grocery store. (While their teachers race up and down the aisles, frantically grabbing groceries off the shelves, in an attempt to avoid being seen by, or seen with them.)

What an adventure!

yep, it's come up again

Poor Emmy, she's sick again today. So we're staying home.
Note to self: Don't feed the kids spaghetti during flu season.

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

So far so good...

Emmy's feeling better. So far Bibi seems to be feeling well. What was I thinking; I fed them spaghetti tonight! I hope I don't see it a second time around.

Lets try it again

Okay, we're going to try this going to school/work thing again today. I bet $5 bucks the other daughter gets sick! Oooo, I'm such a naughty mom!

warm weather

Wow, we went from snow last week to 70 degree weather this week. I love these January warm spells. I'm always ready for spring to start.

Emmy is sick today with the throwing up bug. I'm wondering if the rest of us are going to get it, and if I should leave some videos at school for a sub.

So I had to pick up Emmy from her preschool and come home this morning. My PP (principal) was nice enough to let me leave before the sub came. Unfortunately, I spent the whole morning at home thinking, I wonder if they got a sub? I wonder if the kids are being good? I wonder if....

Good grief, I'm disgusted with myself...

Snow storm and Bubbles

Here are some snowy views from my front porch.

While I was snapping pictures, the girls were having fun with bubbles in the bathtub.

Vivian's new bike she got for Christmas.

Snowday

Woo Hoo! Snow day! The dance worked. We're supposed to get 3-6 inches, and the mountain counties (which we border) will get 6-12. The ski resorts there are loving this. Too bad the only way I know how to ski is by sliding downhill on my bottom.

snowdance

I'm doing the snow dance. It usually involves running around on my porch while shouting and waving my hands in the air. Love sophanne's snow dance link. I think it's the appeal of the suprise and excitement of a coming snowstorm that gets me. Everybody runs to the store for bread, milk, and toilet paper. We're supposed to get 2-4 inches with an additional inch or two tomorrow. Enough to make these country roads slick and unpassable unless you have 4 wheel drive. The good state of WV has their priority roads and their secondary roads to clear. Our road is, like, not even on their list of things to clear. Our road is an inconvience to them. When they fix pot holes on our road, they don't even use asphalt. They fill them with dirt and gravel.

Oh well, snow day it looks like it will be, woo hoo!

About This Blog

Hmm, seems somewhat redundant. I'm a mom of 2 lovely ladies. I'm the wife of a triathlete machine. I'm a general music teacher in a public school. I like to take pictures of things, especially things i consider beautiful. I like to share. As long as it isn't food. Enjoy!
