Because I have nothing better to do....

you are blueviolet
#8A2BE2

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

A contest and other things

Patty from Fiberholic is holding a contest. Go there to maybe win sock yarn or Nova Scotia mohair.

I'm getting ready for the start of the school year. It's exciting to plan for a new year. We have a new principal too, so lots of changes are in store. Good changes, I think...for the most part ;-)

No word on the progress of my jeep yet. My confidence in jeep has been shaken with this past accident. How could one telephone pole, which is still standing btw, cause so much damage? I though jeeps were "trail rated". I like the jeep because the roads going to our house are gravel roads and are a mess in the winter. Now I'm thinking of getting rid of it. It's a gas guzzler. I need something with 4 wheel drive that's easier on gas.

4 wheel drive and easy on gas don't exactly go along together, but there has to be something.... I'm open to suggestions. :-)

This Past Week

Our going on's in the past week have included:

Finding black snakes, in our woodpile....was not happy that hubby ended their short life. Black snakes eat mice, and I don't like mice. I guess he let at least one get away.

Dear Hubby's birthday...

And discovering Tubby/Cinnamon was a card model in her former life.

Birthday Card to Hubby from my Mom.

And the estimate on our Jeep? 3 weeks and $4000....one can hardly blame poor Tubby. She was a victim of circumstance. :-)

history meme

Sweet Tubby, she's been so sweet lately. I think she's trying to make up to Hubby. Not sure that it's working on him but I love her. No word on the jeep yet. Insurance company had it towed to a garage. [Those of you familiar with my accident of long ago (mentioned below) know that I have no love for my own car insurance and should have switched after my lawyer dealt with them.]

Found out the transfer I put in for Emmy to attend the school I work at went through. So Emmy will start Kindergarten this year at my school. Weird but convenient. Bibi will continue to attend the preschool directed by the money obsessed conscious  hag professional.

I'm feeling evil today. Geez!

Anyhoo, was tagged by Becca in the 10 years, 15 things meme. Not an easy one because any "about me"'s are answered "blah, blah, blah...". But shouldn't be too hard.

10 things about me that happened in the past 15 years:

1. Graduated high school and college. Got my degree in Music Ed from WVU. Felt like it took 100 years although it only took 5. Discovered:
  • singers (my "instrument") are a dime a dozen;
  • I can't read more 2 lines of music (at the same time) worth a darn;
  • no I'm not going to go on tour in Europe singing Schubert and Schumann;
  • becoming a band director would be my worst nightmare;
  • yes I love teaching general music to the younger set and playing with those "Orff xylophone thingies" (as described by one certain traveling band teacher and you know who you are :-P).

Okay that was like 6 things already...so

7. Got a chance to take some music teacher courses (Orff Schulwerk) at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY which thrilled the nerdy classical musician inside of me.

8. Married the man I ran into (literally) at college. Ran into him with a door. Was angry that I was stood up by another guy, slammed the stairwell door open and there he was- the love of my life. I never had as much fun as I had on that first date with him. He, (and 3 broke friends who bummed along) took me to the cheapest place in town, heck, probably the cheapest place in the continental 48 states (Pechin's Cafeteria, anyone hear of it?). I strained the coffee through my teeth. They ate their 19 cent hamburgers. The 3 stooges friends put on evil clown masks in the car, accidentally scaring one of their grandmothers at a stop light, and lost one of their$5  "Gabe's" hat out the window. It was an adventure. We've been married for 9 years.

Hubby and I

10. Had babies, two lovely daughters, 4 and 5 years old, who make me proud to be their mother (on most days!).

Emmy

Bibi

11. Moved to West Virginia from the Pittsburgh Pa area when I transferred to WVU 10 years ago and stayed ever since. I love the beauty and privacy of it all. Don't love the shopping so well, but not everything can be perfect....

12. Involved in a fatal car accident 3 years ago when a driver had a seizure on the interstate, hit a car, crossed the median, ..., launched into the air and landed on the top of my car. He went airborne again and rolled to a stop behind me. He was doing well over 70 mph at the time of impact. That driver was DOA.

I escaped with only some scratches and some lasting neck problems. My car was totaled though. The roof and windshield were caved it. I saw him airborne and I ducked. I was already stopped. Thank goodness I was the only one in the car.

 I retained a good lawyer when my own insurance co. asked if I really needed the CT scans I got at the hospital. The gentleman who had the seizure and hit me was underinsured, so his insurance paid up.  And after some persuasion from the good lawyer, my insurance paid also since I pay for underinsurance coverage.

All of that took a year and a half to settle...

14. After some years of working part time and staying home with my daughters, I decided to go back to work full time a year and a half ago. I was fortunate that a general music job opened up when it did. (and not a marching band job :-)

15. My creative outlets are photography, baking, watercolors, sewing and creative writing. And the singing? I had the opportunity to be in a local worship/christian rock band (before babies). That was fun and cool all at the same time. We had gigs, man! I practice my guitar and piano "fake book" skills and even get to use my mad skilz at a couple different churches on a frequent basis.

And so, that's it.

(later) whoops! it was supposed to be 10 things in 15 years :-O. Guess I was distracted when I did this...

The Aftermath, or: Why Cats Should Not Go On Car Rides

DH and I

We had a great time on our vacation and an uneventful trip home. I promise to post more vacation pictures at a later date.

Unfortunately our biggest adventure of the week happened after we arrived home. And poor Tubby...

...poor Tubby continues her Legacy:

So we're on our way to pick up Pizza. We're hungry and tired from our long drive home. Poor Tubby was crying cause she missed us.

So I said, let's take Tubby. I don't want her to see us leaving again. Hubby reluctantly agrees.

At first she seemed to enjoy looking outside. Although she was shedding, a lot.

(pieces of telephone pole and jeep fender).

But on the way back she started slobbering and panting.

(broken suspension);

Hubby took his eyes off the road to look at her...

the telephone pole came out of nowhere...

We side swiped it. The tire took the brunt of the hit. DH stopped to pick up the broken wheel well, slammed the jeep door, said something about the stupid cat....and then Tubby threw up- all over me. The jeep didn't fare much better. With a broken suspension it's not drivable. we'll find out more today...

I told Hubby if he wanted to play Demolition Derby we could have went to the Hillbilly county fair that Niece's Boyfriend invited us to. Hubby did not think I was funny.

I needed to make something comforting after that ordeal. What a beautiful loaf of bread.

It was such a stupid thing. And it will most likely be an expensive fix. At least we're all okay and so is Tubby. The only thing hurt was her psyche.

About This Blog

Hmm, seems somewhat redundant. I'm a mom of 2 lovely ladies. I'm the wife of a triathlete machine. I'm a general music teacher in a public school. I like to take pictures of things, especially things i consider beautiful. I like to share. As long as it isn't food. Enjoy!
